I offer three levels of editing: proofreading, copy editing, and line editing. I also offer beta reading (for fiction only). Not sure what your writing needs? I can take a look at your document and let you know which would be the best choice.
I also offer free sample edits. A sample edit helps both of us see whether we’d work well together and lets me provide you with a more customized quote. Sample edits are not available for beta reading.
500 words for documents between 2,500 and 10,000 words; 1,000 words for documents over 10,000 words

All editing services start at a minimum price of $30; beta reading starts at a minimum price of $50.
Please note that I do not edit horror, or manuscripts containing spice or erotica.
Proofeading
Proofreading is the final stage in the editing process—one last check of your writing before publication. I’ll address the following:
- Typos
- Capitalization, hyphenation, and punctuation errors
Pricing
- Starts at $0.01/word and may increase based on the document
Please note that I only perform proofreading on documents that have already been copy edited.
Standard Copy Editing
Copy editing is sentence-level work aimed at improving the technical aspects of your writing. I’ll address the following:
- Spelling
- Grammar
- Syntax
- Punctuation
- Hyphenation
- Capitalization
- Tense
- Consistency
- Formatting (upon request)
Pricing
- Starts at $0.02/word and may increase based on the document
Line Editing/Heavy Copy Editing
Line editing, also called heavy copy editing, is sentence-level work aimed at improving the style, flow, and technical aspects of your writing.
When I perform line edits, I go beyond making changes in your document—I also leave comments and suggestions to help you improve the style of your writing. I’ll address everything included in Standard Copy Editing, PLUS:
- Phrasing and word choice
- Clarity and consistency
- Repetition
- Too much vs. not enough information
- Telling vs. showing
Pricing
- Starts at $0.03/word and may increase based on the document
Beta Reading
Beta reading is a great way to get feedback on your book before you move on to editing. Hiring a beta reader is like having a test audience for your book so you can see if it will resonate with your target audience.
Beta reading should not be performed on your first draft—you should revise at least once before sending your work to a beta reader. The more polished your plot and characters are, the better feedback a beta reader can give you.
I offer beta reading for fiction books only, and I specialize in fantasy and historical fiction.
When I beta read your book, I send it back with a Beta Reading Report that evaluates things like:
- Characters
- Setting and worldbuilding
- Pacing
- Plot holes and inconsistencies
- Readability
- Genre conventions
Beta reading is not editing, but if I notice a repeated grammar or punctuation error, I will point it out.
You can also request for me to focus on up to 3 specific aspects of your story, such as whether a certain character works well or whether you need more (or less) of a certain type of scene. Each of these “Author Focus Requests” costs an extra $5.
Pricing
- $50 for manuscripts up to 50,000
- $75 for manuscripts between 50,000 and 100,000 words
- Contact me for custom pricing for manuscripts over 100,000 words
- $5 extra per Author Focus Request
